    Bombed out on squat but the meet director was nice enough to still let me deadlift

    Squat
    530-miss
    530-miss, smoked but high
    551-miss

    Deadlift
    470ish-dunno exact kilos
    551-33 lb PR
    601-miss, got it off the floor but it got out in front of me in a hurry so I just put it down :(

    Not exactly how I planned on things going but oh well. Probably wont be doing another meet until November.

    How much prep time do you usually allow for a meet? 3 months or so? 6 months?

    he is 6'5 it is going to be hard to look big at that height in a picture, unless you weigh like 300+ pounds.

    paul is about 2-3 inches taller than me, and about the same weight, but not as fat

    I think 3 months is enough time, just kinda depends on the person. I just started competing so I'm really not too sure to be honest. In my case, I'm probably just gonna focus on putting on some muscle over the next 3 or so months and then about 12-16 weeks out start worrying about what I'm gonna at the meet.

    My dad said he took a couple pictures so I'll post them up whenever I get them, if they are flattering of course. There is a vid of my 551 pull that I should have in a couple days maybe.

    when you miss all three attempts at a powerlifting meet, you are out of the meet, luckilly the guy runing the meet is nice, and still allowed him to deadlift.

    os if you fail or dont meet your 'dial in' (?) at one lift they stop? that sucks. ya, at least he got to pull then!

    Nice pull at least, then again being tall and having monkey arms works in your favor there :p

    I think I'm gonna enter a push/pull meet in August, I gotta start getting my bench back up.

    I honestly went into the meet with 630 in my head as a 3rd attempt based on a gym lift a few weeks back but I obviously fell way short of that. Weight was 254. Pics are rather large when you click on them

    i know shit about powerlifting meets. and maybe it's just me but why would you try 530, miss it, 530 miss it, and then think you can do 551? when that DQ's you from the meet. and on your deadlift. you PR'd for 33lb. just felt like you had an 83lb PR in you? i dunno. just seems like your jumps in weight are a bit high for someone who was having an off day.

    I've done more before and didn't think I'd have a problem with it. 551 was originally supposed to be my opener so it's not like it was a max attempt. I just done fucked up is all I can really say.

    As far as the deadlift, I didn't pull between meets so I didn't really know what to expect. I normally like taking a big jump between my opener and 2nd attempt and the 3rd attempt, my handler tricked me and told me it was 570ish. Kinda glad he did it though, if he had told me it was 600, I probably wouldn't have even got it off the ground.

    I think it was my first attempt actually. I went below parallel on that one, came out of the hole good but just came up all forward and would have fallen on my face if the spotters hadn't grabbed me

    At that point in the picture, I am not hitting parallel though.
