I think if you're in the clinch, you should have a better skillset than to have to result to stomping on the other guy's feet.

    What do you guys think?

Every edge you have you should use if need be. It could be used to potentially open up your opponent for something else. Is it likely to do a whole lot, probably not, but every little bit helps imo.

if you are using it to make someone more there feet for a move, cool. If you're just stomping away cause you got no other ideas its pretty weak.

I think that's a very interesting point that I should've taken into consideration when I made this thread--I agree that they're good when you're trying to set them up. I've just had a negative outlook on them, due to the times I've seen them used mainly because they're out of good ideas.

if you try it against someone talented in the clinch like Anderson, you are dooming yourself and putting your balance at a ton of jeopardy. Dude is going to throw you around and knee you every time.

The only positive I see from it is that its an attack you can use when you are marrying the hips.

Are you like the guys in BJJ that think foot and leg locks are cheap?

Foot stomps are pretty gay, they seem to have little to no effect during the fight. They usually just piss me off more than anything.

well if you can do it with out giving up your balance then good, you could break there foot if you can get a solid shot. I would agree with the people that think its a good way to set someone up cause when then are forced to move then your controling the fight.

I had a guy do that to me in one of my fights.

I speak from experience, they HURT.

If I ever thought about it I would use them.

Where do you get off on assuming this?

Foot and leg locks require technique--not so much for foot stomps.

Not, if they're working. If you are stomping and doing nothing, then gay. But keep stomping, we're all snickering. :)

I've always wondered why they weren't used more often. Seems like it would hurt like a bitch and possibly break a foot - but you only see foot stomps in one or two fights a year.

Leg locks are not pure to the sport of BJJ. They are however to Luta Livre.

Because of the GI all twisting leg locks are outlawed, yet in brown belt and above competition straight achilies lock and inward turning toe holds are allowed.

They were taken out because of the Gi. Its too much grip on the leg and makes escape too difficult which would cause many MANY MANY injuries.
