    Mornin', WMD...

I've been interested, lately, in some of the non-typical stock options with regard to the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22.

I've had one for quite a while and it's got a pretty nice stock... the problem is that it's BORING. I've got a "normal" .22 plinker in my Beretta Neos U22, and I've got a "serious" gun or two in my Mossberg 500 and my PT99.

I'm looking to make it a "fun" plinker, and I'd love to get a few oddball looks at my local range, which allows .22 rifles.

What I'm looking for, basically, are ideas on using airsoft stocks hollowed out to accept the barrel, receiver and trigger assemblies from my 10/22. I've seen some successful conversions online, using stocks of various quality to make the 10/22 fit frames from the FN P90 to the HK G36.

Does anyone in WMD have experience with this?

If so, how difficult is a project like this to realize?

What can I expect in terms of long-term wear and tear on the gun?

Will I regret the job, even if it's done well?

Here are a few examples of what I'm talking about, to encourage debate.

  4. They are all ghastly and I would likely start laughing if someone brought something like that to a range.

  5. How about something like this:

I'm not allowed to post links, but www . rimfirecentral . com has a nice subforum for stocks. Worth checking out IMO. Some wild crazy creations in there.

    So you're a faggot, then?

  9. I'm not the one who wants to hollow out airsoft parts to make my .22 look like the retarded child of robocop.

jk about the faggot comment, btw.

I mean, that's nice, but were I to go in a direction like this, I wouldn't want to use the 10/22. I'd save up for a real varminting caliber. The 10/22 is primarily a plinking tool for me, offhand standing shots and the like. I'm not out to win competitions or anything.

  13. Offhand, you say?

You want something that'll be cool and get you looks at the range...

I can't say that's the color scheme I'd go with, but you could choose whatever you wanted.

  16. It's from McMillan, so probably a lot.

    EDIT: $703

  17. You can get a B&C Odyssey for under $300.

I'd buy an AR if I'm going to be spending that kind of dough.

Its a 10/22 who gives a shit what people do to it. I would laugh more at the person that spends $800 on a stock for a 10/22 :ugh:

  21. I'm sure the competition gun that stock is meant for sees the $703 as a drop in the bucket.

How many compention guns do you see made out of 10/22? Not alot I know Christean Arms makes one. But I see alot more Anschutz, Sako, CZ, Remington, Weihrauch.

I mean hell the Weihrauch you can get for around 900 and be more accurate than a 10/22 with a different stock.

  23. Hell if I know, the description from McM mentions the Chevy Truck Challenge, which I imagine is some sort of competition.
