Sticking point for squats

    I've been stuck at 295X1 for the last two weeks. I'm using the base routine christophers posted so my sets/reps go like this :

    215X5
    235X5
    255X5
    275X4
    295X1

    I've done that same thing twice and I'd really like to get at least 3 reps at 295. Should i start a little lower at something like 195 and work my way up to 255X5 and then jump up to 295?

    just start at 105 like i do :sadwavey: youll be fine....TETAAAAAAAA

    First get 275x5 then bump it up to 285 or so x3 on the friday.
    Then on the monday get 285x5 then on the friday go 295x3
    Then on the monday go 295x5.

    whoa billy hostility. :coolugh:

    adding 10 pounds a week has been working for awhile now. before this set/rep scheme i was doing:

    205X5
    225X5
    245X5
    265X4
    285X3

    I was under the impression that was what the routine called for. I also thought I was supposed to progressively load the bar the way I have been doing it. If i'm wrong, let me know please.

    the 275X4 is part of the routine. i can get 275X5 right now. i've had to increase the weight on monday some weeks because i hit a sticking point and then increased on the following squat day.

    why dont you do 275x5 then?

    the rep scheme for the monday squats is
    x5
    x5
    x5
    x5
    x5

    then for friday its
    x5
    x5
    x5
    x5
    x3
    then repeat

    i dont get where you were hitting sticking points before
    and why are you hitting sticking points so much?

    *edit
    obviously those number are not set in stone but arent they there as a general guideline to follow so that you will continually increase your weight week to week and not hit sticking points

    i've been attempting to increase my squat 10 pounds every week. i don't hit sticking points all that often. by sticking point i mean that i don't get the maxsquatX3 on friday so i do it again monday and try for the same thing. i can do 285X5 and that's why i'm now up to 295. however, i can't even get 295X3 let alone 5

    try bigger weight jumps or taking a week off

    i got 295X3 today. i'm a happy camper at the moment. while it's still ridiculously low, it's improving
