Which should I get? I think the spartan is pretty ugly and they're hard to find for a decent price right now but its supposed to be pretty decent.

Also what are some decent cheap mags I could get for it? Thinking of getting some 10 rounders for HD, but I want some cheaper ones as well.

Some of the best builders in the game couldn't put together a "fighting" gun if asked?

No Vickers, Yam or Valtro with the blood of 35 dead insurgents on it, no care. Stop being poor.

haha I know, thats why I hit you with the Zinger. No they all do good work and I am sure they would make a fine fighting gun. I have shot and handled some Ed Browns which are nice and Les Baer. Condition One also does some nice work. I just love the Nighthawk GRP.

Oh trust me I know that, I was just giving you shit. I did not mean it as an insult to them, I definitely can appreciate their works/craftsmanship. I'll be honest about Glocks, I hate them, I can shoot them and have carried them before. I shoot best with a steel full-size 1911 and it's what I love to carry and call my own.

Not at all, dont really know much about 1911's and just trying to figure out if the premium for the STI was worth it, I assumed I could build the Rock Island into a good good shooter eventually :dunno:

Springfield GI, its a median price between those two and readily available. Its no slouch what-so-ever in the quality and function department either.

    Question:

Considering that Norinco 1911's can be found for $4-500 on the regular, which would many of you rather have? The Norc, a Springer GI, or an RIA (or maybe something else)? I would throw in the Spartan, but I don't think that's a fair comparison to make (assuming a base is wanted).

The Springfield, I have owned a spring gi and two plain jane Rock islands, Loaded Springfield's, Kimbers, etc. The base ones are good guns but for my big sasquatch hands and high grip it's no fun shooting with out a beavertail or with out a larger thumb safety. But if I had to choose from those all I would choose the Springfield GI and then have a smith do some work to it.

I like my Springfield GI but it's as basic as it gets. I've held an STI Spartan and it felt great, very well put together and smooth. That's what I'd go for personally. I bought the GI because I could get it in stainless and I wanted something that's really easy to take care of.

They go for right around $500 for the parkerized model and $550 for the stainless last time I checked.

I'll probably go with the Spartan if I can find one. What mags should I get?
