I was just wondering if anyone else's sternum is sore after doing dips? It seems that everytime I do dips my breastbone hurts.

I think it may be my form, I might be stretching my chest too much while going up. Next time I am not going to use any weight and pay close attention to my chest.

    This happen to anyone else?

I felt a little strain on them when I first started dips but it quickly built up

I get this too on the last few reps when my form becomes comprimised.

It is important to really focus on letting your arms hold the load. Feel your forearms and tri's holding your body weight and maintain that throughout the rep and don't let your shoulders pull forward at the top of the dip lockout.

    Focus on form

Took me awhile to get my form straight

I love when I see guys at my gym with dip belts and weight attached to them with absolutely piss-poor form. Then they pull the belt off to do some burn out reps with nothing but bodyweight and they cannot even do that correctly

when i first started doing them, it felt like my chest muscles were tearing off of my sternum... now when i do 'em, i don't feel that at all :dunno:
maybe i just needed to get used to them
