Im a fairly thin guy whos trying to bulk, but recently added cardio to the split. I usually run on the treadmill for 20 min 3x a week, but today tried the starmaster for the first time (20 min) and it kicked my ass. Im not necessarily trying to burn the most amount of calories i can, so i was wondering whether or not the treadmill or the stairmaster is better for cardiovascular fitness and improving muscle conditioning :dunno:

Change it up every 3-4 weeks.

Not going to really matter as long as you're putting in equivalent effort. That said, stairmaster does seem to kick my ass way harder than a TM.

Mix it up, don't do the same one two days in a row.

I'm currently alternating between treadmill, elliptical, and arc trainer, also 3 times/week. I'm still getting used to the latter two being that my lower back is getting killed after a few minutes on them.

I fucking love the arc trainer- I wish my current gym had one.

If you're light weight, then I don't think it matters that much. If you're a fat bastard, like me, then the stairmill is much harder, and IMO is a better choice.

Stairmill FTW. However, don't rest your upper body on the rails and just go through the motion. I see many people do this...

I don't even touch the rails with my hands.
