I definitely need a new haircut, and the only places near me are the $12 Asian ladies that do nothing but buzz my head with clippers and a comb, and $50 boutique fuckers that still want a tip on top.

I kinda wanna pay in between that. Like $25-35 for a decent cut.

Any recommendations? East Bay preferred, but if they're really good I'll pay the bridge toll to the city too.

I'm Asian, so I have stick-straight hair that I use styling creme for.

I just want something that's clean and neat (read: somewhat short) but textured, a cut that suits the shape of my face (which is round).

I'm willing to trust the barber/stylist to do their thing, as long as they understand that I'd like a haircut that frames my face well.

And...are you sure about Berkeley? I live in Berkeley, and haven't found anything out of the ordinary in terms of good haircuts there.

I hear the salons in Jtown are good. Try one of those.

In that case, japantown is your best bet. I don't exactly know which salons are good, but there are a handful of them that know what they're doing. The place i was thinking of in is north Berkeley but not within the price range ($40, plus tip).

but depending on your travels... gas/bridge = 5-6 dollars

When I got bored with my hair, I have a pair of electric clippers and just buzz everything down to a 2 all around.

But I've spent the last couple months growing my hair out from that style, so I definitely want a haircut.

What's the name of the place in Berkeley?

If I see really good reviews on Yelp, I think I'm game to spend $50 total or so :o

Paul Mitchell School Pleasant Hill, Ca charges $10 to have your hair cut by a student.

Try yelp.com for a good salon.

royhuang and bagsic...any chance you guys have pics of cuts that you guys got?

Because I really really don't want those basic Asian buzzjobs that most of those places do.

i dont have any pics at the moment. but she doesn't do a straight buzz. she doesn't ask for numbers and crap like that. she does use clippers for the sides, but does so by the formation of your head and how it'll look. for the top she uses scissors. im sure she'll accommodate what you want

ive been going to the paul mitchell school in pleasant hill, decent haircut for 10 bucks, but they are usually pretty crowded and take a little longer than a normal salon but included free shampoo and always try to sell you something....my last haircut from them lasted a month so far and still looks good even when i wake up...im asian male btw, use to have haircut above, but now growing out....actually i may stop by soon for a touch up
