i'm interested in getting a tat of a phoenix. of course i go online and check out books for pics. i'm really liking this one i found but i wanna change it up a little bit. especially the body. what i really like is the head of the phoenix.

my question is...would the artist be :ugh: when i show him the pic and tell him i want that head but with a different body?

is the picture on a flash site? if so then it was made to be used. if it is just a pic of someones actual tattoo, what i would do is see if the pic says where the tattoo was done, and then give that shop a quick phone call, let them know where you saw the pic and ask if they mind. worst they can say is no.

Now, this wont actually stop you from doing it if they say no, but personally i wouldnt do it wthout an okay. just doesnt feel right.

when i got my phoenix done i gave my artists a picture a phoenix tattoo'd on someone in the same style that i wanted mine. he just took it and then dres up his own version of it.

i think when getting something like a phoenix its not stealing unless its the same exact version of it.

    haha wtf?

do you really think that there is any totally unique tattoo out there? No matter how unique ur design is, chances are there is someone else that has something just like yours.

Think about how many people pick the same shit off of walls every day. Something common like a Phoenix I don't think you need to worry about "stealing".

All my shit is custom though, I guess if I had designed a Phoenix and someone copied it I'd be kind of pissed.

:eek3: Was it in his portfolio? Some drunk guy came in to the shop I go to and wanted my piston/checker flag tattoo done. Also in his portfolio, but my artist wouldn't do it.

yeah I got my tat and designed the whole thing myself for the reason that I wanted something original...still wanted a dagger through a heart with a snake around it, even though it was typical I didnt look at any other designs for inspiration. I made sure I designed it all myself and said no to the guy putting it in his portfolio.

    Werd. :coolugh:

I trust my artist enough to know that none of the work she did on me will end up on someone else by her hand, but I did ask that she keep it off their website. Always afraid someone will see it and take it somewhere else. :noes:
