Im currrently 187. Been eating pretty much a bulking diet to put on some extra weight because id like to stay around 185ish (being 5'10"). Im wondering if i should keep eating like a horse and then cut down or just balance my diet and hope i stay above 180.

cliffs: looking to stay around the 185 mark with no stomach fat

Find out how many calories you need to maintain your current weight. There are calculators all over including on bodybuilding.com, just search.

I think he wants to also change his body comp dramatically but stay the same weight. Correct?
In other words lose fat and gain lean muscle at the same time.

Anyhow, it also depends how long you've been lifting for.

From what he posted above I would say he should keep on bulking. Just keep to 1-2lbs per week to minimize fat gain. Then cut down to your desired weight and finally maintain.

What is your bodyfat% right now and what are you trying to hit?

my bodyfat was at 14% about 2 months ago. i only gained 4-5 pounds so i doubt it was significantly changed

what timber said is what im trying to maintain. i need my size because i dont want to be caught in a situation (im aiming to be in law enforcement) where someone easily overpowers me. right now, ive been eating complex carbs (rice and pastas) frequently and eating tuna after i work out. am i on the right track?
(with proper workout and cardio a few days a week as well ;))
