So I finally got a good enough computer to run anything good. I downloaded the 10 day trial today, I'm a Level 3 or 4 Warrior. Now, if I buy a subscription, what do you guys recommend me starting as? I can never figure out what to be when I play these types of games so maybe you guys can give me a tip or two. Any other tips to do once started?

Also, do I have to go buy the game, and then buy the subscription? Or is there a download of the game, and I just add the subscription to it? (I'm not all sure what I have to do, as I said I am a noob to this game haha)

I'd go buy it so you have the CDs.

As for class...what do you want to do? Smash things? Shoot shit? Heal people? Run away? Be a ninja?

I wouldn't recommend being a Warrior as your first character.

I just started in February, as a Warrior, ask anyone and they will tell you a warrior is the hardest to level your first character.

I have 7 days played and I just hit 44 about a half hour ago.

Warriors are very fun, if you like to tank (take most of the damage in an instance and pull monsters) or be a DPS guy.

For my first class, I wish I would have been a Shaman or a Rogue.

Go to WoWWiki and see what you like about each class.

Make a class and see if you like it. If you don't, just start another one. There isn't any penalty to making a bunch of characters. You'll find one you like eventually.

BTW, everyone hates Blood Elves and Hunters fwiw.

make a priest. when i played the game it usually went like this. i played a shaman

    log on
check guild...guild is in molten core, no need for another shaman
go to orgrimmar and send out tells for DM, scholo, strat, etc
    get 4 people
send out tells for priest for an hour
    quit

be that priest. i'm telling you, once you hit 70 your life will be much easier

When I first started wow I started as a warrior, then at level 28 I switched to a mage and hit 60 as that. Then I rerolled a priest. I guess I prefer caster classes now.

I have 2 70's, a warlock and warrior, both in T5 content (approximately 50 hours played AFTER hitting level 70 to get that far) and I haven't played in 3 months... I wasn't addicted when I played regularly, and I am not addicted now, got tired of it and played Bioshock and Crysis for a while instead, and now I picked up smash brothers so I probably won't be going back to it for a while...

Not everyone gets addicted to it...

As the others have said, roll up different characters and try them out.

Warrior is one of the slowest to level up, so unless you can duo with someone regularly/daily, don't bother working that character up until you are more familiar with the game.

Hunter is fun, so is rogue, both are pretty easy to level. Hunters end up with chain mail armor at 40, if I remember correctly, rogues have leather armor throughout, once they get leather wearing ability....don't remember what level for that.

Warlock is a fun class, it's also a pet class, and mage is a good lot of fun to play. Both these classes wear cloth AKA paper armor, but if you gear them correctly, survivability is not a problem.

Priests are good too, get groups easily, and they also wear paper armor, but if you have a good team you will be protected. And also priests do have serious offensive spells, so soloing can be done.

I never bothered with the shaman, paladin or druid classes, those three hybrid classes didn't really interest me.

Good luck to ya and I hope you have fun. I played for a little over three years and moved on to LOTRO.

I played warrior for 18 levels and then rerolled Druid. I'm glad that I did, despite being much more complex, you are way more flexible at 70 when you figure out what role type you really want to play.

i just reinstalled wow and downloading patch. I played up till level 30 for warrior till I got kinda bored back in 2005/2006. I figure I should give it another go since I didn't really experience 95% of the game at all really. And I'm bored and craving for an MMORPG.

My user name here is only tied to my old name I had in DAOC, doesn't pertain to any of my current user names. :)
