starting to work out...

    Im still in highschool and we have a weight room. Well im gonna be in there for the next 9 weeks or so. Im 5'8 and 120lbs. I'd like to gain mass/weight and get into shape.

    What would you guys recommend to start gaining some weight the healthy way? maybe stuff to snack on during the day and what not.

    Eat. Read archive for christohpers routine. Don't laze out and just do other things because form is too hard to learn. Eat more. Reread christophers routine, to make sure you arn't accidently doing arms every day in the gym.

    Well that is about it.

    Also, if you are 5'8 and 120 lbs, you've got a ways to go, so I wouldn't really worry about what I'm eating so long as I am eating.

    He means... just eat everything in sight. Eat at least every 3 hours.. giving you about 6 meals a day. Eat lots and lots and lots

    I wouldn't go that far, you dont want the kid pounding ice cream and fruity pebbles...you want to get a shit load of meat and carbs in your diet such as breads, rolls, potatos etc. Stay away from shitty junk food as much as you can

    I dunno dude, at 5'8 and 120 he has got to be a stick. He probably needs a fuckload of calories.

    Eat a shitload of food and lift as much as you eat

    Count your calories so that you aren't only eating 2500 cals.

    I was that small in highschool, he probably shot up real fast without adding any mass eleswhere.







    If you want to gain muscle eat a shit ton and lift heavy. It sounds simple because it is.

    I was about 125 at that height in highschool. What actually got me into working out was a chick telling me she wished she had my legs and how good they'd look (on her).

    no offense taken. lol.

    im going to start counting calories with the stuff i eat, but how would you calculate meals such as lunch&dinner? basically how do you calculate home cooked meals?

    fitday.com is helpful for counting calories on home cooked stuff....after a week or two you'll have a general idea of the nutrtional value of your food. clean bulking, lots of protein, and dedication to the lifting is key. if you havent yet check out the archives and read read read read....there's a shit ton of good info in there.
