If im just starting to work out again and have no base, would the 5x5 be better to start with than a upper lower split? I know the 5x5 focuses more on power, and not definition, so when would be the right time to swtich? 8 weeks or so?
    thanks

don't overcomplicate things. Just show up at the gym regularly, work as hard as you can and stick with what works.

5x5 is a set and rep scheme, not a routine...in my opinion a beginner should do a full body workout every other day

I did fullbody 3x a week for the first few months that I got back to working out this year and it helped me tremendously in terms of strength and added some weight on me. I'd stick with that for the first few months and see how it works out.
