So, I restarted my computer today and after it got done loading, nothing was showing. No icons, or start bar, just the background. Pressed on the "Windows" botton on my keyboard and nothing happened. I restarted and put in safe mode and everything showed up fine. I did a full system virus scan and nothing showed up. Restarted to normal Windows and still having the same problem. Is there anything left for me to do to fix this problem? Im running on Windows XP Pro.

The only way I can get programs to start (IE, AIM, etc) is to open the task manager (cntl+alt+dlt) and start new task and use the regular Windows explorer window.

I was just gonna make a thread on this cause my little brother's computer is having the same exact problem except he can't cntl+alt+dlt. He said the last thing he was doing was was downloading games off of a website. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tired hitting F5? I know that's what worked for me before when I had that same problem.
