ends up being only $30k or so, about the same as putting in a nice back deck or pool, and you can write it off as home improvement!

[okay so its not mine, but its given me some ideas]

With a mini kitchen and a bathroom you would have to leave the basement.

Did the dude use shipping containers to make it? It looks like it with the part of the room sitting in the garage, and I remember plans being posted about different ways to weld 40" or 52" shipping containers together to make cheap underground shelters.

Don't forget blast valves for the ventilation system.

seems pretty cool. Don't know about having a separate vault, and if you don't have secured ventilation then it's all worthless. Seems to be a good place to ride out a storm or something.

    :werd:

Secured ventilation and possibly some plumbing would be really nice. Otherwise it's just turns into a tomb.

I would like to have something kinda similar, more for a basement (place to do my goofing off), and storm shelter.

the company ships it fully plumbed and ventilated, you bury it on a 16" slab and pour 16" walls and ceiling around it (concrete)

moisture and temp are not issues

Nice, we just use a backhoe and bury $1100 dollar 20x80 shipping freight containers.
