started doing squats again after over a year of not

    long story short, fell on some ice, knee hurt for months, didn't do sqats. Just now getting back into them, and it sucks. any tips besides just work through the pain and low weight?

    the way i'd get back into it is to do a couple sets a few times a week

    After knee surgery, I did pretty much what ceaze said.

    Did 6 sets of 10 with 1/3 of the weight I used to rep and progressed up.

    Forgot.. did lots of close chain posterior work. Helped a great deal.

    yea no kidding...my back was killing me the day after my first time back...stretched hammies constantly and it got better...today is workout #3, we'll see how it goes

    6 sets of 10? damn thats a lot of volume, i was doing 4 sets, trying to get 12 reps, but by the end it was about 6

    I'd just train for strength for now. 3-4 low-rep sets a few times a week, adding weight each workout. worry about hypertrophy when you're legs are strong again.

    Might want to lower the weight to get a comfortable 10 rep on the first set.

    so your just getting sore because you haven't squatted for so long. Drink lots of water, eat a lot of protein, fuck prostitutes.
