I don't know if I can be satisfied without O'Neil's sarcasm. I think the show will probably need at least one season to find it's groove.

Now if I can just stop refering to it as Stargate: Voyager :x:

That glowing diamond is ancient shield technology that people with a certain gene can only operate.
The ancients built the stargate system

Isn't Colm Meaney (Chief Miles O'Brien of TNG and DS9) a part of the cast?

Do I need to know a LOT about SG-1 to get into this series?

its on this really distant planet that by special means can be reached by the regular stargate.

I'm not too pleased with it. I didn't like the whole, the puddle jumper can read my mind and give me what I need to defeat the Wraith. I was also bothered by the fact that the Major, being the only guy who can operate the ship and all it's Deas Ex Machina gizmos, decides to run off and try to save the Col. Gee if you get killed the rest of us are stuck here in this Wraith prison here on the Wraith planet.

If I was the other marine I would have shot the Major in the leg to keep him from running off and getting killed.

I dunno I like Dr. Mckay he seems pretty funny so far so is the doctor with the scottish accent. Cant really tell with the rest of the cast. Dr Weir isnt that bad she isnt no General Hammond.

This series has big shoes to fill and so far it has done a great job. I like Dr. McKay- always did since the days he was flirting with Maj. (now Col. ) Carter. Dr. Weir doesn't fit in the series to me, I thought I remembered her from the original series as a serious hottie- now she's kind of skanky looking. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong person. Shepherd isn't growing on me as a leader or even a very good character.

BTW, is anyone going to the Stargate Convention on August 8th in NJ? I'll be there.

I haven't been able to catch an episode yet.....I wonder if they'll have some guest stars from SG-1.

So far I like it, although I do miss O'Neill's sarcasm.

One thing I don't like, however, is the whole "'primitive' humans go to a distant galaxy and defeat (or outsmart) the the enemy, who essentially wiped out the Ancients, on a weekly basis" plot.

Hopefully they will treat the wraith like the goa'uld and develop them a bit. For a sci-fi TV show, the goa'uld are fairly well developed. Remember too, it was the "primitive" humans who kept the replicators at bay!

23. Yeah I think they changed actors cause once they decided on making her character more permentant I think the first Weir backed out because she didnt want to do Atlantis.

I was talking about this with a friend today and he remembers the other one too- she was hot! Why replace her with someone at least 15 years older and a different hair color- they didn't even try!

Yup, gotta agree. Season 7 Dr. Weir is hotter.
