    Anyone picked this up yet?

Bought it on Tuesday but have yet to take it out of the packaging, not because I don't know if I want it but because I haven't had the time to sit down and play/start another RPG. There are so many from my backlog which I will probably never ever have an opportunity to play and finish :hs:

Reviews have been decent from IGN/1up. Typical JRPG that's fairly linear with not a lot of backtracking. Lots of unlockables and hiddens.

Curious as to some thoughts of people on here who actually have played it and enjoy the Star Ocean series of games and their play style.

I just watched the GameTrailers preview yesterday and it looked interesting. Seems fairly bland when it comes to story and art design, but the combat looks fantastic and the space travel element should be interesting as well. I've never played a Star Ocean before, but since this one takes place before the others, I figure it doesn't matter. I'll probably pick it up if it gets a good reception. I just finished Lost Odyssey though and I don't know if I have the time/energy to sink into another JRPG right now.

I'd have to hear more reviews. I got Rogue Galaxy cause I wanted a space type rpg and that game was a nightmare.

I've been meaning to pick it up too but am in the same boat with regards to time. I hope it clocks in under 40. The voice acting sounds kind of corny too, but not Infinite Undiscovery bad.

I would have if it came out for PS3, but fuck them for not bringing it out to the historical RPG system.

I'll probably get an Xbox 360 and catch up on the rpg's for it when I get through my 20 game backlog, which will be like forever.

This is the list I posted like 1 month ago, since then I beat HL2 Episode 2 and Azure Dreams on my list...

Problem is 90% of my gaming is TF2 and L4D on PC, I don't play Consoles much anymore.

    Alundra was fun.

How was Azure Dreams? I got to the first tower or whatever and gave up because I couldn't get in to it.

    Xenogears.. god damn...

The Lunar games I liked too... I don't know why they added all those almost nude bath scenes but i'm not complaining.

Azure Dreams is probably the best dungeon crawler rpg out there. It's pretty much as easy or hard as you are lucky. If you happen to find some good shit the first few runs through the tower the game is infinitely easier. I believe I had to run through the tower 24 times before I beat the final boss.

I built up my city with all but 2 buildings before I quit also... had to move on to other games.

Yea I played Lunar SSSC and Xenogears way back when they first came out, but hardly remember anything about them. And I had never played Eternal Blue so wanted to play through SSSC first. Currently I'm on the boat to Meribia right after you beat that weird slime thing.

Bought a 60gb Pro along with Star Ocean 4 today. I'm about an hour in and so far . I'm a sucker for Tri-Ace games.

Played for a few hours, i'm enjoying it. Always have liked the battle system of SO and they haven't changed it.

Graphics are quite nice too although constantly dashing every 2 seconds is annoying.

Anyone playing this on a HDTV? If so, make sure the xbox is set to 720p instead of 1080p. Apparently 1080p causes the game to freeze at certain points throughout the game. Lost around 3 hours of playtime due to this :wtc:
