    I just can't help but see how stupid people are on bodybuilding.com. There's a cheat meal thread where everyone competes and posts their HUGE binge and they're proud of it and then go back on the diet... Seems like bulimia to me because they lose control... I don't know how could anyone encourage these "cheating" behaviors (which are more like binging, cheating is more like eating something you don't usually eat but you keep control and don't overdo it) especially considering both the physical and psychological factor.

    So yeah, do you think many "fitness enthusiast" are just closet bulimics ?

    bumlimia - a habitual disturbance in eating behavior mostly affecting young women of normal weight, characterized by frequent episodes of grossly excessive food intake followed by self-induced vomiting to avert weight gain

    It doesn't have to be vomiting btw.
    Because of the twice+ a week criteria, some of them would be diagnosed as corresponding to the partial diagnosis for bulimia which is usually binging once a week (the famous cheat meal/day).

    Yep. That was me until about a year ago. Rein myself in really tightly all day, binge on the weekends. And try and reassure myself it was ok because "It was a cheat day!" :rolleyes: It's so easy to be self deceiving about it.

    I think that most(not all) competitors have some sort of eating disorder.

    I think he's more referencing the people who take a free meal/refeed and turn it into "how much junk can I fit in my face".

    Fuck that shit.

    I diet HARD.

    You better beleive once in a while I'm gonna go wild and spend $42 on dollar menu items at wendy's every once in a while. Its the only way to maintain sanity when you live off a strict diet of the same foods day in and day out.

    That != bulemia

    i once heard somebody say binging for a day actually spikes your metabolism and the subsequent arg that it was therefore "good" for you to cheat/binge once a week. i had to laugh out loud. cheating with a meal or two once a month is necessary for sanity, but this stuff your face all day once a week thing is straight deception, denial, and poor logic.

    *binging* is not good for your metabolism/diet plan; *refeeding* is. There's a difference, mainly in the macros. A refeed is high carb, low fat with the purpose of refilling your glycogen stores. A binge is just junk food.

    Binging is emotional and is overdone because it's out of control. It usually leads to compensating/purging behaviors and hinders progress.

    Cheating isn't needed by your body but mostly by your mind but it's not overdone, is controlled and makes you stick to your plan. It's eating what's not on your diet to be able to continue.

    Refeeding is something else. Refeeding is needed and not out of control at all, it's part of the diet.

    That's my take on it.
