    Hi,

If I am browsing the web through a proxy, and I make a purchase on a website using SSL, how safe am I? Is my information being sent in plain text to and through the proxy server? My understanding is it would be encrypted but I'm not 100% sure how safe it is.

The reason I ask is because I need to make a purchase from an American website that will only allow purchases from American IP addresses.

If you're using an open proxy I wouldn't trust it. Assuming you actually ordered though, they would ship international?
