I just started working out about 3 months ago and I still feel like a noob. I'm starting to get a decent amount of weight on squating(with a smith machine) but It always feels like I can't keep my whole foot on the ground when I push up, like its either on the back or the front of the foot. Is this normal? Do I need to wear shoes with less support?

If ypu can not use proper form on a smith machine you need to completely re evaluate what you are doing.

Get off the smith machine for starters, you are probably tryiong to lift more than you are actually capable of and thats why your feet are coming off the ground.

If I'm having problems on the smith does it make sense to leave it? I thought it was a lot easier?
