Squat weight for chicks?

    How much should a girl aim to squat? I am not trying to be ridiculously huge, but just an ideal weight to aim for? My body weight? Half my body weight? I put up 110 last night, 30 lbs below my current weight. Curious if I should keep pushing for more weight or not. I did 3 sets of 12.

    To accurately judge your percentage we need to see a pic of your posterior chain as well as front / back pics of your quads and hamstrings.

    Hmmm, I havent really ever taken pics of my legs from several different angles. height and weight wont do?

    Not really, we'd really need some pics to gauge the density of the muscle / fat you're working with.

    Just take a few pics, it takes a second then come back and we'll have a better idea on what to tell you.

    Look at her, she's doing full squats with 135 and she's not "getting huge"

    The ideal weight is the weight you can do now with proper form.

    Then increase it, and that will be your new ideal weight.

    definitely not. take consistent pics. Same angle, same lighting, etc. You won't regret it. Stiff-Leg Deadlifts and Lunges work wonders for that area as well.

    And you don't have to worry about getting bulky. I think girls confuse the 'pump' feeling with getting bulky.

    as for getting huge, you don't have to worry about that because, like Jmezz, and most of F&N it seems, you are lacking in a key ingredient, test

    I would add little more like 5-10 lbs. if you can but 110 for 12 reps is fine.

    ive got pretty bulky looking legs though naturally. hang on, ill grab some pics.

    Height and weight mean nothing. Everyone's body composition is different. We need to see what you are working with to give helpfull advice. It will also be extra benificial to you because you will start a visual log of your progress.

    Disregard the the other comments about being nude, there are a couple of perverts in this forum. You have to learn to ignore them. Best thing to do is just wear some of those tight short-shorts or underwear or something and take pics from the front side and back. You can also take pics showing your squat form(top of the move and bottoming out past parallel) with a broom or something similar.

    I bend to a 90 degree angle and dont let my knee go over my toe :dunno: thats how I was taught to do it. That video shows her going all the way down, that seems like it would blow out my effin knees. Is that safe to do it like that?

    We need a shot of the glutes as well. Throw on some boyshorts and call it a day.

    Your legs don't really look that bulky to me (they are super white though :bowrofl: )

    I would just keep adding weight until it's hard to do your 3x10 or 12 or whatever.

    Kiri actually picked up a book called the New Rules of Lifting for women and she's keeping a detailed log of it in the training log section, you should check it out.

    I was just looking through the training log section, I didnt know there was anything like that on OT lol. I have a spreadsheet already but theres no one to hold be accountable for it. I'll look for Kiri's post, thank you :)

    I'll stick to adding 10 lbs at a time and see where that gets me. And apparently I need to get out in the sun more. Yikes.

    you'll feel yourself getting stronger than that over time. keep it challenging. aim for 8-12 rep range for 3-4 sets.

    my gf is 53kg and she squats, ass to grass, 97kg. She does O-lifting though

    90 , or parallel is fine. Going deeper, as long as you are flexible enough is good for feeling more of a stretch burn thru-out your quads. I dont feel comfortable telling you do that tho without knowing your range and glute strength. Post some pics of your squat form at the lowest level that you feel comfortable. Wear some tighter shorts or panties so that we can see where your Glutius muscles tie in, and how well developed they are. Dont hurt yourself.

    Those legs pics show a good foundation for you to start with.
