I'm looking for a squat rack for my home gym but don't want to break, although I don't want a piece of junk either. Any recommendations on what I should be looking at? I'm a novice squatter if that makes any difference.

he's an idiot that loves to spend money, so far 11 grand down in turning his basement to a home gym, but it's nice as fuck  plus a free place for me to work out which is ftmfw

What should I look for in a squat rack? The prices vary so much, I've seen them online anywhere from $150 to a couple grand. What sets them a part? Again I don't want to break the bank on one but I don't want to buy a piece of shit either

Search Craig's List. People are always selling workout equipment for pennies on the dollar. That's how I got my Parabody Half Rack (similar to what Rusty posted). Works great for squats and doesn't take up too much space in my spare room.

I watched one at sams club or where ever go down, no one buys squat racks, so they eventually have to discount them to nothing. I got a full cage with pulldown/cable row for probably <300? I think it was the floor model actually.

My friend bought a powertec rack for ~$400 a few years back. He still uses it. It's definitely solid and has held up well.

I got my cage on craigslist, it's pretty flimsy and I told myself I was going to get another one shortly but that was awhile ago :o

I have had my NYBB shit for 5 years now, beat the piss out of it, and it is still rocking like a champ, I used it 4 days a week, smash weight in it, and it still gets the job done.

I could easily weld up most of the simpler stuff in a gym.

I pay 12 bucks a month though for my membership.:rofl:

I made one out of 2x4s and steel pipe in college. Wish I took pictures of it.

It wholly depend on how much weight you plan or see yourself squatting.
