Square Enix teaser site...countdown set to end on July 6th and the sketch background is filling in as the countdown winds down. Also a big ass 4 under the counter. No idea what the game is.

Capcom teaser site...all it says is 1560. No idea when anything will be announced. The site was reached through Sengoku Basara portal, so maybe a new addition to their franchise?

If you crank the volume on the Square one, there's some 16 bit sounding music playing very quietly. Sounds familiar but I can't place it...anyone know what that's from? Definitely older and not from Chrono Trigger...so there goes any hope on that hahaha.

I'm trying to think which games they're up to part 3 in...hmm.

So I guess 10 days or so that one will be announced?

    As for 1560.....no clue

I was thinking it might have something to do with the Seiken Densetsu series (Secret of Mana and so on) but there are more then 4 games in that series already... Unless the 4 means something else.

Radical Dreamers wasn't really in the same vein as the other chrono trigger games. I sadly don't think that it is a new game in that franchise :hs:

Fuck this form of viral marketing. It is by far the most annoying piece of shit way to market a new product, and it always seems to end in a let down.

The squareenix song thing you mentioned sounds like a mix of Air Fortress, Zelda, and a little Final Fantasy 1...all nes games.

Really reminds me of Air Fortress though, which was an awesome game for the NES.

I would love to see another "secret of" game... secret of evermore was the shit. the 16-bit music made me think of Zelda too...

it could be something brand new, who knows??

Yeah at first I thought zelda but that isn't square or capcom so that's out plus it lost it's zeldaness to it after a few seconds.

Two games come to mind that had a water color/coloring book style, Legend of Mana and SaGa Frontier, both from the PS days. Legend was 4 in the Mana series, and I think Frontier was 4 as well.

Given Square's recent history, I would guess a remake of one of those two games, but it doesn't make much sense since they weren't really hits at all, plus their music was a bit better quality than the 8/16 bit era track that is being used on that page. :dunno:

    Onimusha:
The story begins in 1560 with a battle between the forces of Yoshimoto Imagawa and Nobunaga of the Oda clan in a huge field. Historically, this is the battle of Okehazama.

    Makes the most sense

And oddball and a longshot here...but what about Final Fantasy Legend 4?

The music style reminds me of those old gameboy games...and that series ended at 3. Also yeah this is definitely 8 bit era music, not 16...

the SaGa series! Thats the other series I was trying to think of. Was there 4 games in that series as well? But that series doesnt seem like a big enough hit to have this kind of teaser really.
I didn't even check the Capcom one, but yeah, now that I look at it Onimusha seems the most likely. Then again, Sengoku Basara takes place around that time as well.

I guess the Final Fantasy Legend games WERE SaGa games in Japan...and this year they either released an anniversary edition remake of Saga 2 (Final Fantasy Legend 2) in Japan for it's 20th anniversary...

....hmm....this may actually be on the right track. SaGa 4....Final Fantasy Legend 4 for DS. The FFLegend 2 DS Remake is coming out this fall in America. That seems like an odd game to resurrect doesnt it? Maybe it's for a reason...maybe it's because they're making this new sequel.
