sql server password encryption?

    does sql server 7 have have a similar password encryption function as mysql's PASSWD() ?

  3. keep in mind I don't believe that's a salted hash, therefore it's really not much protection. what language are you programming in on top of the DB? it's easy to implement an MD5 or SHA-1 hash WITH salting, there's a ton of open source code out there.

    here is a free MD5 hash creator, i have used this in the past also... just store the encrypted value like hsmith said
