sqauts + crotch = pain

    been on the bill starr/christophers routine and today i was doing light squats and there was mildly discomforting pain in my crotch area, especially on the right side.

    is it my form? too much weight?

    needs stronger hips. :o

    My crotch was hurting horribly when I first started doing that routine.

    Happened to me too. I went to the doctor, and he just told me to lower the weight and take it slower. He said my hips couldnt handle the weight that my back and legs could, and that I'd need to develop them before I lifted heavy.

    :eek4: Good advice from a doctor? I always thought your hips were naturally stronger than your legs/back?

    Not if once you increase the weight and don't do anything to strengthen your hips. Especially if you're squatting wide.

    maybe they were. but my groin certainly wasnt. i did what he said, and havent had trouble since. :dunno:

    If your hips are stronger to start with, they should remain stronger when you're squatting and increase the poundage. I always found I was using my hips more than anything when squatting wide.

    legs are shoulder width apart.



    thanks. i'll lower the weight for the next couple of weeks. what did you do to strengthen your hips?
