Well my shiny new Spyderco Endura Wave finally came in yesterday. I say finally it got here a lot faster than I expected. Even getting for 60% of the retail price including shipping off ebay it’s still the most expensive knife I’ve ever bought. So far I would have to say it is worth it. It is a little bigger than I thought; the blade is every bit of 4” and pretty thick. It didn’t come as sharp as I expected but still sharp enough. It has a fairly slim profile and almost disappears in my pocket. Most Spyderco’s come with a black handle but this one has a dark gray handle, it also has a very aggressive pattern to help you keep a good grip on it. Finally the wave feature, the hook on the back of the blade to make it open when you pull it out of your pocket. I was surprised how well it worked. It is very easy to pull it out of your pocket and have it completely open with a very natural movement, just pull up and back. Also important, it is easy to pull it out of your pocket and have it not open when you want also. Just pull either strait up or up and forward a little instead of up and back. Overall I am very impressed and satisfied with it. It is now my new daily carry knife.

I carry one daily as well. I'm waiting for my sharpmaker to come in now so I can sharpen it back up a little.

I'm still not seeing how that hook opens the blade out of your pocket. Is there a diagram or something?

It's hard to picture but when you pull the knife out of your pocket you pull up and back and the hook catches on the back edge of your pocket and just unfolds. Hope that make some sense, I've been having margaritas all night (it's night time here in Germany)

The hook faces up and catches on the back corner of your pocket. I'd take an auto instead if I could but I think it works reasonably well.

I wouldn't draw to open it with someone standing right behind me.

What did you wind up paying?

I love Spyderco's, but I haven't seen the wave in person.
