If I am focusing on improving my endurance for long distance running, would sprinting do the same thing as Jogging, but quicker? Instead of spending 30 minutes jogging, I prefer to spend ~10 sprinting back and forth until I am exhausted.

    only woman jog.

    men run.

if you want to improve your endurance, you need a combination of BOTH speed days and long endurance run days.

If you are focusing on endurance you shoudl jog long distances. That doesn't mean you shouldn't put speed work in on certain days, taht is still important.

you should add some HIIT into your long distance running to improve your VO2 max...
it is definitely necessary to train your body for long distance running by actually running long distances though, because if you sprint all the time you will not be training your muscles to work without accumulating lactate.

How did you make a cross country team without knowing anything about running? I'm not being mean, just curious.

    Great websites!

I have always been sort of a weak runner myself. I have been starting off with 1.5 miles and after 1 mile I have to start walking. When I start walking, I try to get back up to a jog but my legs end up giving out.

I have been trying to work on my distance though, slowly.

:mamoru: I don't even REALLY like coolrunning all the time..there's a good injury section though. I've never yet found a running forum that isn't full of complete idiots, sadly.
