Went into the local gun shop to see about picking up a Glock 26 and they didn't have any in. Well the guy behind the counter showed me the XD-9 which i never really thought about. $550 for it. Felt pretty good but haven't shot one.

So how are they? Should I investigate further or just wait for the 26?

They had a 19 in and it just seemed a bit big to carry.

I had a G19, and still have a XD subcompact 9mm. I like the XD, but liked the glock a little more to be honest. I liked the feel of the trigger better on the glock.

Glock is better than the XD.

Unless you're planning to ankle carry, the 26 isn't going to carry any easier than the 19. The largest carry factor I've found on Glocks is not the length of the grip, but the thickness of the slide (which is the same on both the 19 and 26). The only step down I've found from any Glock is something small and single stack like the Kahrs.

Plus, most people put the +2 grip extensions on their 26, which makes the grip just as long as a 19 anyway but with 3 less rounds.

I've never understood that, and I see it all the time....

I personally don't care for either of those choices, as both are rather wide and blocky.

Fondle a Kahr, and see what you've been missing.

I really like the size of the kahr but I absolutely hate the trigger and the low capacity.

It's all a trade. I don't mind the trigger (especially the elite series ones), and will take the trade off in ammo capacity for a smaller profile.

I just couldn't ever warm up to the baby Glocks. They just seemed so chunky, and always seemed to be uncomfortable or print. My Kahrs dissapears in it's FIST holster.

You ever play with a P7? I've always wanted to try one of those out.

    Just searched that...........

Haven't seen it in person but will take a look at it along with the Kahr suggested.

Shoot one, you might like it more than the Glock. I've had a XD9sc since they were released and its been a great gun for me. Not taking anything away from Glocks, because they really are the standard in defense pistols.

XD9's are great, but $550 is WAAAY too much for it.. should be closer to the $489 range

Lol, that bad huh? It's one of the only 9mm's I'm really interesting in getting my hands on (they've eluded me up to this point). I'm certainly not a HK fanboy, but the thin profile, fixed barrel accuracy, and the squeeze cocker have me curious.

One day I will have one of those, and a smattering of 9mm 1911's (In all shapes/sizes).

Curious... What do you/would you carry? Baby glock?

There is really not a problem, or difficulty in carrying a full size gun. Dress around your gun, don't carry a gun around your dress.

I've carried a glock 19 and xd service in shorts, pants, suits, tuxedos, and t-shirts, polos, and sports jackets.

That being said, kahr's carry great. The size and weight is phenominal for carrying. However, the limited capacity is a waste for me, I only carry the kahr when going to the gym or running, or for deep concealment.

Huge +1 to this. The Walther PPS is pure sechs. I love my P99 but if I ever wanted a carry gun it would probably be the PPS.

listen to this faggot if you like paying a couple hundred dollars extra for the same quality gun because of it's brand.

Who's brand also hates civilians owning guns.

Well ugly for sure. I don't like XD's, the feel just isn't right for me. But some people sure love them.

HK makes guns that are equal in quality to all the others and charges a premium for the name which makes me really dislike them as a company...

    except for the P7.

That is the only HK I've ever used that is worth every penny. The quality is far superior than anything else they make.
I will trade or sell everything else in my safe without a problem but the P7 I will have on me when they lower my coffin into the ground.
