1911's smaller than the Officers ACP are well known for reliability issues in the way of feeding and extraction.

i personally would stay away from it if you're going to entrust your life with it.

Thanks. well what would be a good, smaller sized auto handgun then?

I don't know if you like glocks, but you are obviously interested in the .45 ACP, (my assumption, and you know how those usually work out) so why not check out the Glock 36. Pretty small and .45 acp single stack.

I dunno, maybe someone will add something else.

Glock 36 as stated above or the Sig P245 are good choices, but the latter is not nearly as small as the ultra compact.

I was skimming my checks (shh don't tell my wife) to buy a G36, but a buddy offered his old firestar M45 for less than half the $$. I'd shot it before and it eats any and all ammo we've ever fed it. So I bought it instead.

Maybe look into one of those also. We found one at a gunshow in OKC in nickel (not sure) after he sold me his blue one. He bought that one as a replacement for the one I bought from him.

I am looking to find a Springfield Defender in .45Gap to try out. Supposedly they are reliable due to the complete redesign of the gun to work with the shorter round. Same ballistics as a .45ACP in an even smaller package would be a great CCW weapon for those who like 1911 designs.
I am also waiting to see the new XD .45gap SubCompact due out this summer.

    Taurus makes the PT145.

Some will bash Taurus and some will not. It's up to you to try it out and see how it works.
