Here's what the Canon spring rebates are supposedly going to be:

Anybody know what the Nikon rebates are going to look like?

Edit: I don't really see why my question is so funny. Nikon has done rebates in the past, just like Canon. I was wondering if there was any info on what it might look like this year.

It may not seem like a lot, but if you are buying a body and an entire lens lineup, it adds up. No point in buying this instant if rebates are in the pipeline.

I wasn't laughing at your comment, I was laughing because Nikon doesn't do it on a regular basis like Canon does. Also, if nikon does any kind of rebate, the prices might be close to what retail was 5 months ago... which might be good for new buyers, but it wouldn't make me want to really hump on anything. Their price hike was pretty steep in January, and I've come to grips with that. Gotta pay to play :)

Thanks, that's what I needed to hear. It's depressing looking at the Nikon prices now compared to where they were 3 months ago.

I guess you can't count on Nikon rebates then. But since I'm considering selling about $8k worth of Canon gear and putting it all back into Nikon, rebates, even if small on each item, can add up if I buy the D700, 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200.

D700 + "the trifecta" = whole lotta win. Don't forget the grip either. :big grin:

Also look into the 85 1.4! I'm sure it doesn't compare to the L 1.2, but its an amazing lens none the less.

I think I'm going to start with a wider prime, most likely the Sigma 50mm. I'm sure the 85 1.4 will be on my to-buy list someday as well. Almost all reviews I've read and samples I've seen have it pretty much even with the 85L, and a lot cheaper too.

No triple rebates this time or are those the rebates if you buy one from each tier?

I think you're missing the influx of people asking about the D700 on this forum lately. I have to stay w/ Nikon to give those people support and guide them to the dark side.

    true story.
