(Currently posted in WMD as well) For this holiday season, my college is doing a sponsor a soldier charity and the club I'm a member of, has chosen to participate as well. I have heard that batteries are always a good thing to send, if so what types?
What sorta stuff should we add to this carepackage. WMD suggested jerky, a boresnake, magazines (what type), CD's/dvd's, stamps.
Anything else that would make the soldier and platoons life more enjoyable?

if i was on active duty and someone from home was 'sponsoring' me by sending me batteries and stamps, i would think he was an idiot.

And why is that? I need batteries for my flashlight, and my radio currently. Stamps are nice when sending home packages. I'd also like socks, toilet paper, and a fresh bag of chips.

batteries are nice. I have to second the food idea. You can never have enough snacks esp if you get stuck somewhere without any kind of shopette.

So AA and those CR123 batteries seem good, along with jerky, gum, socks, entertainment. What about ducttape? Is that something useful to send?

fuck yes! you could use duct tape to make socks, gum, jerky, entertainment, and probably batteries if you tried hard enough.

On letters weighing less than 13oz, or anything going from APO to APO. Everything else you're paying for.

Its the colleges Gay straight alliance basically. He'd think the idea is a great one, but I'm sure the other officers of the club would say no.
Anyone else have some stuff to throw into this package? WMD suggested chewing tobacco.

Hahah, I think we'd send em a few rainbow ribbon pins we made for something a month or so ago. Would condoms actually have a use in the desert? Other than for sex?
