    Not that I'm 100% convinced:
Seems like that sort of variation would be within a normal range, if rats given splenda varied wider than those in the control group.

Anyone know if that's a satisfactory explanation?

I wonder what the standard deviation is on that... in the highest dose of spenda it gained the least... also what was the sugar range? They didn't all do the exact amount. To do a proper study you can't have just one but test N control patients and N test patients. Looks like 1 control and N splenda... Also they didn't do any tests with no diet change. Sounds like a crappy study.

Okay okay, just read the whole thing. They didn't test against actual sugar! They did 5 groups of N rats, 1 had just water and food, the others had splenda+water and food. All gained weight... I'm still thinking it's not as bad as they make it out. Add a sugar group to the test and see what happens.

When bulking I tend to cut out all artificial sweeteners, but when cut time comes around (now) I tend to use Splenda frequently (roughly 2-4 packets a day between coffee and oatmeal).
