    Spied - Redesigned Chevrolet Tahoe

Or more appropriately, leaked. Entirely new from the ground up - the one vehicle (and all the inevitable offshoots) that GM is betting the entire farm on.

GM is insanely pissed someone took this picture and posted it online, I'm surprised it didn't hit OT awhile ago.

Oh, and here's the back of the next Escalade. The only Cadillac with a real name left.

Looks good, but the fact that they are betting the company on gas guzzling SUVs in the early stages of a fuel crisis is unbelievably RETARDED.

Nice improvement, almost looks like they took some cues from the GMC vehicles.

Honestly, I don't think it looks striking enough for a vehicle with so much riding on it. It's GM's grand chance to hit a home run and I don't think something that resembles a huge Toyota Highlander with a Chevrolet bar grille has enough pizazz to do it.

I think they should have benchmarked the Equinox, which is a striking vehicle, for the next Tahoe. It would have had real road presence and it's a fresh, modern design. It would have done for Chevrolet trucks what the 1994 Ram did for Dodge trucks.

Exactly. It's a plain, slab-sided box. It's extremely vanilla, and I think the styling is pretty bad given the way fuel prices are and the very importance of it to GM's well being. They cancelled nearly ten RWD cars to put give this thing and it's variants priority. :ugh:

The Equinox looks fresh and unique, it stands out. It has nice proportions, flared fenders, and a very cool use of the Chevrolet bar on a new front end. It would have been a much better to refine that look for the Tahoe instead of this cardboard box.

GM isn't "betting the farm" on this. They have been restructuring their global car platforms for a while now and the Truck platform has been due for a redesign for a while, so they decided to focus their engineering efforts into getting the new trucks out ASAP in order to come to market with fresh products after everyone else has done so. Toyota is about to unveil the new Tundra, which I'm sure GM is aware of, so they want to steal any wind Toyota plans to get in their sales.

Also, if the trucks are more efficient (which they are supposed to be with DoD, 6 speed automatic transmissions co developed with Ford, and a full 2 mode hybrid system), then they can gain a lot of customers who are worried about efficiency but still want a full size, which is something that none of the other companies have really targeted yet like GM is planning.

BTW, if you think striking and exciting is what the average American consumer wants, you are sorely mistaken. Look at the Camry, Civic, Corolla, etc.

People just want something that works and works well and has good features and a good balance of power and mileage.

but GM makes it so it is automaticly more bland than the rest (have you ever seen a car mag call a honda bland?)
