Anyone using a speed rope for cardio?
I just started jump roping for cardio and I'm fucking awful at it. I'm pretty sure the rope I bought isn't a speed rope because this one has heavy handles. I'm thinking about getting a different one.
I'm awful at it too, I was hoping for some tips
I'll be of no help in that department.
i jump rope with a heavy rope for about 30 minutes before i play bball
just keep doing it for as long as you can, it only takes a couples weeks before youll be pretty good at it
i have a speed rope, i use it ever once in a while
i prefer doing muay thai on a punching bag for cardio, but jumping rope is awesome too. Like others said, just keep doing it and you'll get better.
Once you've been at it for a while try shit like circling yourself twice for each jump, do figure 8's to get your arms working, single leg jumping, etc. Just be ready for some hurtin' if you have one of the heavy leather ones. I like the leather ones but when you mess up goddamn it hurts.
leather rope + heavy handles + speed bearings ftw
that's what i have... and when i first started, i'd look like someone beat me in singapore after i was done
im gonna pick up the speed rope tomorrow
I don't like the leather ropes much, you can't get it going fast enough. A thick, solid vinyl rope or a beaded rope is much better I've found. You get a bit of weight and you can go as fast as possible.
I do a 15 min jumprope warmup before most workouts, it's good enough to get me sweating. I also find that it works my calves well enough that I don't really have to bother with calf raises.
And HIIT jumprope is pretty much one of the hardest exersizes I've ever done.
@ ib slavery
If its got weighted handles then it is most likely a speed rope. The only faster ropes are called Boa ropes. They have weights in the rope as well.
your name... is TOBY!
Oh shit I just busted out laughing in my cube
bought a weighted jump rope and im loving it
