I'm thinking about buying a Benwin 4.1 S54 4 piece speaker set for about 30 bucks, and I was wondering if it's going to be decent.

I've never bought aftermarket speakers before, here are the specs:

    General Features:
    Ported Subwoofer for enhanced bass
    Front and rear channel speakers
    20 Watts Total Power Output
    Midnight Black Color
Universal compatibility for Windows and Macintosh - no software required
Can also work with other devices such as MP3 Players, DVD, Stereo TV or CD Audio

    One Subwoofer:
    12 Watt Power Output
    20Hz to 150Hz Frequency Response
    Driver: 4-inch Woofer
    4 Ohms Impedance
    Dims: 8.7 x 7.9 x 5.6 inches
    Weight: 7.2 pounds
    5 foot cable (to source)
Subwoofer plugs into audio source (standard 3.5mm mini-din)

    Four Satellite Speakers:
    2 Watt Power Output Per Speaker (2W x 2W x 2W x 2W)
    150Hz to 20kHz Frequency Response
    Driver: 2-inch Speaker
    4 Ohms Impedance
    Dims: 3.4 x 3.5 x 3.1 inches
    Weight: 0.7 pounds (w/cable)
    5 foot cable (to subwoofer)
    Satellites Plug into Subwoofer

    Power: 120 VAC / 60Hz

Will the the Sat speakers have good quality and output? Will the bass be tight and strong?

    Anyone have experience with Benwin?

Well, you usually get what you pay for in speakers. I mean, for 30 dollars, I really hope your expectations are not too high. First, the bass will probably not be strong, nor will it be tight. Second, those specs you posted are completely false on several of the points. First the frequency response on both units is probably wrong. Second, the power output is probably false as well. The output will not be very high, as there is only so much output a single 2" cone driver can generate. The quality is really subjective, so I cannot determine that for you, you will need to listen to them.

But, for 30 dollars, if you buy them and they suck, so what?
