should the speakers match up the watts on the amp output? Or can they be lower or higher? I'm so confused on this... :hs:

you want the amp to have more RMS POWER than your speakers rated RMS power.

    peak means nothing.

a 500/1 amp on the W1's would be overkill according to the below chart no?

As i said...you always want more power than you need. Headroom....
The reason i say go with the w1's is because JL is so pleases with the design of these woofers that they are working on changing the entire line to this design.

two w3s is perfect with a 500/1. i would not really recommend the w1s, it probably wont have enough impact for you.

I don't understand why you just don't go w-6 or w-7 with that amp and not have to worry about blowing your speakers. I have the same amp on a mtx 9500 and am able to run it into the ground without having to worry about any damage. My advice would be to go with one big sub because of your great amp, that will be all the bass you need especially in a suv. (I have an ls400).

get 2 audiobahns. doesn't matter which series. they all handle 1000 watts per voice coil. at least.

After talking to a local dealer around here.. I'm narrowing down my choice to a W7: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_enclosures.php?menu=1&prod_id=189

It's gonna cost a pretty penny though. :hs:
