I'm on the 4 day split. I go 4 days a week no matter what. The problem is sometimes that's like tuesday, friday, saturday, sunday.

How horrible is it to go, say, 3 days in a row? I know it's better than not going at all, but is it bad enough that I need to take some sort of drastic measure to ensure I do not go multiple days in a row? Obviously it would be ideal to do every other day, but that often just can't happen due to work.

    kthx

    My split is

    legs
    arms
    back
    chest / shoulders

So I wouldn't be working the same muscle twice per say.

You think it might be bad to have 3 days stretches where I'm not lifting? That's an interesting point. Honestly, I doubt I'd be able to do anything on those days.

    It depends on...
-Your time out of the gym. Diet, sleep, rest, stress, etc...
-Your time in the gym. Routine, intensity, weights, etc...

It's a balance that's different for every person. Some guys do heavy, full body routines and only hit the gym twice a week. Maybe they could go three times a week but they're always stressed from long days at work and don't get much sleep. On the other hand, some BB's go 6 times a week, but they're doing body part splits, get 8 hours of sleep a night, and have their diet in check.

It depends on what you can do. I follow 531, train 4 days a week (M,T,Th,F) and have been getting great results.

I workout monday, tuesday, wednesday, and friday. I can feel the wear from 3 days in a row, but thats just what works best for my schedule right now.

I used to workout monday, tuesday, thursday, friday. That felt better.

I wouldnt do that unless I was already big and strong to begin with. It has zero strength work, way too much volume and is another Flex Magazine type routine that has no actual thought put into it.

Making routines is not hard and I'm sure I'll get shit for this by some little jewkike but the bodybuilding world has effectively ruined training for the majority of people who lift weights. Nobody, especially beginners-intermediates with average genetics, needs that kind of volume. Additionally most beginners would do much better with a 2x/week frequency per bodypart with reduced volume.

Most people who thrive on routines like that could do curls with a 9" black dick and gain muscle.

the days you are off you should be doing some cardio if you do not have a manual labor job. the problem with many n00bs is they are undertraining. And if your muscles hurt from the workout when you do the cardio day, MAN UP

i train at least 6x per week but i also do a 5 day split...i wouldnt do this if you just started lifting, but there's no prob if you been doing it for years.

You can never over train if youre eating enough

Ah, what about reducing the reps to 10-12 reps on all exercises and maybe taking wed off as well? Of course i modified some of the exercises, like including deadlifts in the back workout and removing something else in there, etc.

I train 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. I never feel run down, but I have been doing this 11yrs and my diet, sleep, and routine is nailed down pretty good. None of my workouts last longer than 50 minutes.
