So it's finals week, and we're both done with finals on Wednesday. He's going home Wednesday night, so I want to suprise him Tuesday night by having him come over and get pampered for the night. I bought new sheets, an electric blanket (to make it seem like a real massage table), lots of candles, everything to make it really perfect. The only thing that I'm missing is some sort of music. I was wondering what you guys would suggest. I have a bunch of Enya stuff, but I'm not sure if I want the typical "celtic mood" style music. I'm going to make a playlist on iTunes and just loop it, so a variety of similar kinds of music would be best so as not to fuck up the mood when the song changes.

I was going to post this in the main forum, but I think you guys are better suited to this stuff. :)

    Slow country!

It really just depends on what he likes, and what mood you want to set.

I might put some in there for later in the mix, but I was thinking more along the lines of the pure moods stuff.. Mellow.. the kind of stuff that you hear and become instantly relaxed.

What So-crates said about considering what he likes.

I was about to suggest Isaac Hayes, but that's what I use to get her in the mood. I don't think I'd want to get a massage while listening to a guy whisper naughty nothings, regardless of how funky the beat is.

My suggestion (not knowing your boyfriend) would be something slow without vocals or with a female vocalist (Enya could be good, I also thought of Mazzy Star's "So that tonight I might see").

Good luck with finals and hope Wednesday goes well.

Hmm.... personally I think I'd go for some smooth jazz and soul stuff; maybe some Anita Baker, EWF, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Richard Elliot, etc...

I'm gonna veto the country suggestion (unless you're both into it).

I'm gonna support the Sigur Ros suggestion (but only some of their stuff, and only if you're both into it).

No really just depends what he likes. If you both like country I would say slow country music (positive:mamoru:Drinking me lonely would not be the best song) or slow HipHop/rap(Boys II Men, KC and JoJo) if you are more into that scene. If you both like orchestral type music I would recommend Edward Elgar's Nimrod(name sounds strange but the song is very slow and soothing)

eh, its alright he doesnt like it much either he listens to some hard core rap stuff and I cant stand that. He doesnt like slow songs in general. I think there is only a couple of times that we have had music on when we've been together.

I'm not sure if it's his style, but here is a couple great ambient chill sets. Check them out and see if it may work. Copy and paste the links into the browser (you will need to change the hxxp to http)
