A friend and I were having this discussion about rap music, specifically southern rap. It seems to me that while all rap music has gone downhill since the 90's, southern rap especially has paved the way for celebrating ignorance and stupidity, moreso than rap music from any other part of the country. The music and especially the videos seem to send the message that "we live in the ghetto, we're proud of it, and we never want to move beyond it" - a negative and damaging message for those who so willingly accept it. Discuss.
