I bought a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1's for my laptop the other day, and while it sounds good, I was just expecting a little more. I have a feeling it's due to my setup but I wanted to ask for some suggestions on how to get the most out of these speakers.

First off, the sound card on this laptop is horrible... in fact the speakers are plugged into the headphone jack on the side. What external soundcard do you all recommend.

Second, where can I find a really good sound processor plugin for winamp?

It sounds good for movies and such, I'm just not impressed with the sound for music.

As far as a sound plugin for winamp, you may want to give foobar2000 a shot. You can control just about every aspect of the sound output.

On my Sennheiser HD280's there was a pretty noticable difference in the quality of sound.

I'm not very good at using EQ's so I usually have to use presets :hs:
