i have an old SB Live! card, probably around 5 years old now?

I am going to upgrade my pc soon. What does a new SC add. would buying those $120 new Sound Blaster cards actully make things sound better?

or is it all features I dont even need.

    thanks

I just upgraded from a SB Live to a SoundBlaster X-Fi Elite Pro, and in my opinion, it was definitely worth it... I also upgraded my speakers to Logitech Z5500's. Sounds awesome.

what are you using for speakers? Buyin an X-Fi doesn't mean you get the best sound.
