Ok, so this problem happens every once in a while and I could probably go pick out a few AVI's that do it all the time.

The audio has this very loud static noise.

I know it isn't my speakers b/c it only happens in certain AVI files. I know that it isn't the encoding of the AVI files because this wasn't a problem on my old computer with a previous version of an SBLive! Value card. I've tried the hardware audio acceleration settings in the DXDIAG app. I've also tried changing tons of other audio settings with no success.

    I'm running WindowsXP Prof. XP1900+, 512 PC2100, 40gb hdd. I have the latest drivers.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked to see if the problem persists on a different soundcard or different machine?

What motherboard/chipset are you using? There are some issues with AMD systems and the Live.
