OK, so Ive been taking the advice given to me In my gaining weight thread, and again I d like to say thank you. One question (and yes its a n00b one) is this: Its been 2 days since my first day at the gym and my arms are still sore as shit. not in a painful, I think i had a major tear way, jsut in a I havent done any type of real qorking out in 14 years way. I knwo that generally speaking one shoudl work a muscle group every other day, but in my case where I m knocking off a lot of "rust" so to speak, should I wait until im not sore 2 days after, should I go in with the full regiment, or should I moderate my workout, but still go in?

thanks again for putting up with my skinny ass n00bness. :)

Yeah, I remember that happening to me the first time I ever picked up weights. I felt like I tore a muscle or something.

Wait at least a week before doing that same muscle group. Work out legs until then.

After a few weeks you never get the soreness you do in the begining..
First day i worked out my legs i walked like a penguin everywhere, i coldnt bend my knees..now i get soreness for an hour and it goes away.

same here. though sometimes I do get sore, but they are nothing like the 1st few weeks.

the eliptical is on another floor so sometimes after a leg routine, penguin walk is inevitable :mamoru:

when you first start out all you need is 1-3 sets for each bodypart per workout

Cool. Right now Im doing the basic machine circuit along with some squats and this nice Ab machine. The trainer that gave me my little intro said that since its been so long (14 yrs) since Ive worked out the frirst few weeks, even though I would probably see some gains, I would more or less be knocking off the rust and building some base strength. once that was done, then I could see about adding in some free weights, but that it really would be worth it right now.

    Is that fairly accurate?
