So I'll be taking in about 3 rifles when I move to NY. They have been sitting in my aunts basement for about 10 years now. I have no idea to what make they are as of yet.

    1 Shotgun
    1 pump action rifle
    1 .22 rifle

Do I have to do anything when I take poession of them? I know nothing of guns atm, but I want to start learning from a family friend who runs a gun shop. I'd ask him but I haven't talked to him since I was a baby basically.

Also what would I have to do so I can take em to a range and have some fun?

Make sure they are legal in NY and you should be fine. Don't have to do anything to get them from your aunt I don't think, no paperwork or anything.

Just remember the 4 rules of gun saftey:
    1. Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
    2. Never let the muzzle of a gun point at anything you do not want to destroy or kill.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
    4. Be absolutely sure of your target, and what is behind it.

    Enjoy the new guns :wavey:

Thanks, when I lived in NY I shot the .22 alot. I'm preety confident in shooting safety at this point but I'm looking to learn alot more in the coming year or two. I started shooting when I was like 7 :)

If your going to be a NY resident, dont have to do anything, if your just visiting from Co. your suppose to go through an FFL.

Then +1 on what Keesh said and get yourself some ear and eye protection.
