I picked one up for my Dad last month, but I haven't seen any details on how to get the $100 credit from Apple since the Open Letter from Steve Jobs.

Any updates? I put in a claim with AMEX to refund $200 via their Return Protection, but we'll see if they approve that claim :hsugh:

This is from http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/iphone/american-express-honoring-price-protection-for-iphones-297684.php , so for all you AMEXers, we may be in luck

Like we mentioned in our posts yesterday, if you purchased an iPhone on a credit card with a price protection plan, you can call them up and see if they will honor their return policy protection with the iPhone price drop. In our case, we've personally confirmed that American Express is offering the drop. All you have to do is call their return number.

As long as you're under the 90 days that their plan covers (which is everybody right now), just call 800-297-8019 and tell them that you're inquiring about the iPhone price drop. They should know what you're talking about, since they've been getting so many calls the past two days. The service representative we spoke to was extremely nice, only asking for some details like when you purchased the phone, whether you bought it at an Apple store, and how much you paid for it.

The rep said it wasn't usually covered under their plan, but since they love their customers so much, they're going to honor it this time. And that's why we love American Express.

Mine isn't processing. Telling me I might not be eligible. I bought my phone 4 days before the cut off. So now I have to send an email, and wait for someone to try to process it for me.

Since I bought mine within 14 days of the price drop, I returned to the store, and got $200 plus sales tax credited back to my cc.

That is the standard with any of Apple products. Price drop or a new one comes out. If you are in 14 days just take it back. :dunno:

Contgrats on getting the iPhone for $399 though. :bigthumb:

My frustration continues to grow with Apple. Afer 5 emails over 3 days, they finally send me a message saying they were sorry for the inconvenience, and that my phone number and serial number have been reset in their system. So I should be able to enter in my info and get my rebate right? I try it out, and guess what? You may not be eligible for a rebate.

Who the F is working at Apple taking care of this stuff? My 1 year old nephew could solve this for them by simply emailing me my rebate. Now for sure I'm going to get this $100, sell it in front of the Apple Store, and get my price match from my credit card. Then take my $300 and buy somewhere else.
