I have a feeling they are doing this because theres a hole in ps3s security through linux.

I havent turned on my ps3 for a few months so maybe il just leave it off till theres a hack or gt5 comes out with good online play.

    wtf

I know most gamers won't be bothered at all but the few who bought it to use Linux on it too that's ridiculous :ugh:

    But they're all worthless.

Cept BC, and even that's worthless to most people.

They were losing a shitload of money on those launch systems.

They had to cut shit out to make them more cost effective :dunno:

I use it for SNES emulation for my son and myself. Took me a good day to figure out how to set the damn thing up... I know some people that use it to rip BluRays onto an external HD,

and the biggest security flaw i can think of is that the community might have finally figured out how to access the Video memory and GPU to give it ps3 like gaming capabilities while in Linux (before it just did everything from the processing core.)

Considering this is the first we've heard of this and it just so happens that it's being released in a few days on APRIL 1st, I wouldn't doubt it is a joke.

On the slim chance that it is a real thing, I don't use the linux feature (never saw a reason to), so wouldn't care.

My thoughts exactly when i read this last night on digg.

Fucked. Im sure they have a "piracy prevention team" or something to that effect. The easiest way would be to use the os id imagine.

Oh well. No one has hacked it yet. Guess we will keep waiting to see if anyone does.

I wonder if they're doing this because they found out that the dude that hacked the iPhones found a way to hack the PS3.
