Ok my mom pretty much narrowed her choice for a digital cam to these 2.

The chick at the store seemed to really prefer the P5 and didnt even say anything about the S30 other than she likes the Sony better.

So which of these 2 do you digital camera people like better, and what about it do you like better?

    Definitely the Canon s30.

Go to www.dpreview.com and read both reviews on these cameras.

    The Canon is much better.

    I agree with TotalEclipse..
    Without a doubt hte S30.
The only way I'd consider the P5 is if 1)you had a LOT of memory stick based devices and 2) the person using it had no desire to do any kind of photography beyond 'point and shoot' basic/amature photography.

Hey, how much is the S30? I've seen people post pics with that camera and the quality is much better then my Kodak DC3400 which was one of the best cameras according to ratings that my 350$ could buy at the time. I'm even considering selling it for the Cannon myself.. if it's like 250-300$

it retails for $500, but you can get it in the $400's if you shop around on the internet.

I ended up with the sony DSC-S75. It is 3.3 MP, and a little bulkier than the others like the S30 and sony P5. But it has the most features, longest battery life, and has the highest rating on epinions.com

It also takes mpeg moves in stereos sound. You can take up to 90 minutes of footage on a 128 mb memory stick.

    I got it for $424 from digitaletailer.com

Glad you found something you liked :)

Just to remind ya though, opinions usually don't count for much, I bought a headunit once on opinions (wayyyy back in the day) and I didn't like it at all :(

I'm glad your happy with your camera!
