I'm upgrading from my 2.1 Olympus (C-700 Ultra Zoom) and was thinking about picking up the Canon PowerShot S400 for it's size mainly. Then I saw the Sony F717 and saw it for $599 at Newegg. The Canon I can get for $360. Any F717 owners care to comment?

just remember the size of the camera... i have a digital rebel, and it's too big to lug around for candids and such, so 2 weeks ago i bought a canon SD100 to go along with it

Its a good semi-pro camera, but if you just want something for snapshots, get the V1 instead. Also Sony's have abit of a noise problem if the shot is not set up just right.

I love the camera. Only reason I will upgrade to a D-SLR in the future is so I have the option of more lenses. Going to go with a Canon.

ohh I don't think it's bad either, I LOVE the camera, I certantly have learned a TON with it, but of course some people may find it big

for the noise I suggest Neat Image pro, very good piece of software
