SOmetimes... do you think its cheaper to just buy a new bike every year?

    ok lets see.... i got my bike for about $5k with 12k miles on the odometer... a 2k2 f4i

    in the past year that i have owned it.. i have already spent this much on just regular maintenance...

    - $300 new tires and mounting
    - $90 new sparkplugs
    - $50 on air filter
    - $100 on oil and oil filters
    - $300 on chain and sprockets

    and just recently my battery hasnt been holding a good charge and i check the dealership and they want $125 for a new yuasa ytz10-s !@!!@@ cheapest i could find online was about $80 but still about $100 after shipping..

    so like in the past year i have spent about a grand on just normal maintenance and upgrades... i think to mylsef, wouldnt it just be easier to sell my bike for about $4500 ish and then take that $1k i spent on upgrades and just get a $5.5k bike? you can get a 2003-2004 for that much :hs:

    You ride the bike alot. It's gonna need maintenance. :dunno:

    I spend about a grand each year on tires.

    What 2003/2004 bike can you get for about $5.5k? It's certainly not one that is not gonna need maintenance...

    I bought mine for $7600 brand new msrp. $8000 out the door and all I've spend on maintance $150.

    that's not including all the other shit I've bought for it like stands, battery tender, and a bunch of other shit....

    new>used.....

    why a grand on tires each year... how many tracks do you do per year.

    I'll do anywhere between 8-10 track days this summer. Combine that with a lot of street riding, and the miles add up. On the Mille, I get about 2-3k out of my rear tire (change the front after every 2nd or 3rd rear). Torque+heavy bike=short tire life.

    I think the R6 will be alot easier on tires. Should get double the life out of the rear tire on that thing...

    you are right... as far as trackdays 600cc performe the same as 1000cc...
